My grandfather was a carpenter by trade. My father also liked to work with wood. My brother Ray started doing wood carvings with the shop teacher where he taught school and I began learning from him a few years later. I started out carving wood spirits, making canes and walking sticks, turning pens, etc. I continued to expand by making live edge tables, clocks, and other wood art. It is something I truly love and I have been able to enjoy it a lot more since I retired almost 11 years ago.
